Thing to do in Denver
Tattered Cover Bookstore... 2526 E. Colfax Ave.
No visit to Denver would be complete without a journey through the Tattered Cover Bookstore, one of the top independent booksellers in the country. This astounding literary marvel boasts several Metro Denver locations, but the newest store, in the renovated Lowenstein Theater on a burgeoning stretch of East Colfax, is the talk of the town. Grab a latte from the in-house java joint, plop down in one of the overstuffed chairs or sofas to wrap your hands around the latest best seller, or attend a free book signing or author lecture from big-names like John Gray, Al Gore, Annie Leibovitz, and Garrison Keillor
For fun check out the Tattered Cover at Union Station as well!

Tough Subject
How many of you have lost a love one to cancer, or have had someone you know or love survive cancer?
Life goes on all around us; and so does the fight for surviving cancer. The fight for life; from cancer is different for each person whether it be a child, or an adult. The treatment can be very different as well.
When going through cancer treatment it is different for each person as are sometimes their options. If going with a Doctor(s) they meet to discuss treatment as an Perscription. For some it is surgery, radiation, chemotherapy. These treatments can be by all by themselves or various combinations of them.
Some people come through, but no one knows what they have endured to get through...nor what their families have to do in order to pull it together; and keep their family going through the normal day activites of life going on all around us.
If you know of a loved one, friend, or a co-worker, going through this incredibly tough time in their life, please take a moment of time out of your busy day; and send them a text, a card, email or leave them a message, letting them know, you care! They may not respond; or be an emotional or physically state to even answer, however; they will always remember you cared enough to do so, so will their Family!
In my lifetime too, I have had far too many loved ones; and friends that have had cancer, and not all have survived. In my life now, my childhood friends spouse is battling and I do mean battling cancer, we are all praying so hard for their family.
Whatever your beliefs...prayer, sending out good thought, lets send out to our loved ones, friends, coworkers who may be going through this tough time in their lives and for them to beat cancer!
We have pills to loose weight, grow hair...you know the rest. Please get involved in
raising awareness to get rid of cancer once and for all!

Rising rents and stubborn stagnant wages do not a winning combination make — especially for American families feeling squeezed by the cost of keeping a roof over their heads.
In its annual “Out of Reach” report, the National Low-Income Housing Coalition has broken down exactly how many hours a household would need to work and how much they would need to earn per hour to afford a basic rental today.
A worker would need to earn $19.35 per hour — nearly three times the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 — to be able to afford a basic two-bedroom unit. A one-bedroom unit is only slightly less costly, requiring a wage of at least $15.50 an hour. The average renter nationwide makes $15.16 an hour, which might explain why so many adults are leaning on roommates these days. (The report, which uses Fair Market Rent figures determined by Department of Housing and Urban Development, sets one-bedroom units at $806 and two-bedrooms at $1,006.)
Not surprisingly, some states have it worse than others. Hawaii, Washington, D.C., California, New York and New Jersey have the highest rents, each requiring workers to earn more than $25 per hour and, in Hawaii’s case, nearly $32 per hour.

Happiness
Happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being defined by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy.
People who have one or more close friendships appear to be happier. It doesn’t seem to matter if we have a large network of close relationships or not. What seems to make a difference is if, and how often, we cooperate in activities and share our personal feelings as well as provide support to a friend or relative.
Simply put, it is not the quantity of our relationships, but the quality that matters.
In 2002, two pioneers of Positive Psychology, Ed Diener and Martin Seligman, conducted a study at the University of Illinois on the 10% of students with the highest scores recorded on a survey of personal happiness. They found that the most salient characteristics shared by students who were very happy and showed the fewest signs of depression were “their strong ties to friends and family and commitment to spending time with them.”
(“The New Science of Happiness,” Claudia Wallis, Time Magazine, Jan. 09, 2005).

Tips for summer travel
Tips for summer flights and road trips will make things easier for you and your family.
Plane Travel
When/What To Book: To pick the best seats for your family consult a site like SeatGuru.com. Planes will be more full this summer than before, so book your flight early—six weeks or more is a good rule of thumb—to improve your odds of getting seats together. If you use social media, follow @airfarewatchdog and @smartertravel on Twitter to learn about last-minute deals. Both carefully vet price drops and unadvertised sales. As for flying, Saturday mornings at airports are more quiet and flights can often be cheaper. Plus, the first flight out in the morning usually takes off on time.Plan Ahead: United announced last month that they will no longer allow pre-boarding for families with young children and more airlines are following suit, so plan accordingly. If you have extra time before your flight, most airports have play areas that you can find out about on the airport websites or on a site like iFly.com. Purchasing an airline lounge day pass (usually around $50) will ease the stress of being in the airport with the family while flying coach—be sure to buy the pass online ahead of time to save money.
Know the Rules: Remember that the new TSA rules mean that kids don't need to take off shoes at security. To save money on checked bag fees, keep in mind that each person with a ticket gets to carry-on a personal item and carry-on size bag—even your two or three year old! Your stroller doesn't count as an item as it's checked at the gate.
For the Car
Plan Ahead: No matter where you are going, plan out your route in advance with scheduled stops every few hours. Try to work in something fun for the kids to look forward to at each stop as this will help break up the journey. Use Yelp to find local restaurants along your route, and download an app to help you find the cheapest gas along your route. As for hitting the road, getting up and out early is key—you’ll avoid traffic and kids won't be as tired and fussy as they could be late in the day.
What to Do in the Car: Give your kids a fun assignment that involved them in the trip. For starters, ask them to help you plan and chart the course and check off what they've seen. Don’t forget games, videos, and snacks to keep them busy.
When to Fill Up? Once you find the places with cheapest gas, be smart about when you fill up your gas tank: Gas prices rise around holidays and long weekends. So don't wait until July 3 to fill the tank for your Fourth of July road trip. Fueling up can also be more expensive on weekends, so head to the gas station in the middle of the week.

5 Factors That Decide Your Credit Score
Credit scores range between 300 and 850, with scores above 620 considered desirable for obtaining a mortgage. The following factors affect your score:
Your payment history. Did you pay your credit card obligations on time? If they were late, then how late? Bankruptcy filing, liens, and collection activity also impact your history.
How much you owe. If you owe a great deal of money on numerous accounts, it can indicate that you are overextended. However, it’s a good thing if you have a good proportion of balances to total credit limits.
The length of your credit history. In general, the longer you have had accounts opened, the better. The average consumer's oldest obligation is 14 years old, indicating that he or she has been managing credit for some time, according to Fair Isaac Corp., and only one in 20 consumers have credit histories shorter than 2 years.
How much new credit you have. New credit, either installment payments or new credit cards, are considered more risky, even if you pay them promptly.
The types of credit you use. Generally, it’s desirable to have more than one type of credit — installment loans, credit cards, and a mortgage, for example.
